They didn't bring a Rafale to Aero India 2009. Maybe they already had a hunch. This was the Rafale's (presumably) final presence in the country.

It seems Rafale is still in the MMRCA race :
“The Indian Air Force has denied reports that the Dassault Rafale has been eliminated from the country’s medium multi-role combat aircraft competition.”

Yet another flip. So much for transparency promised by the Air Chief on MMRCA. Its clear a lot of wrangling is going on among the jet lobbies.
